Background and Resources
MediRead is the trading name of Shukra Limited, a company based in London and founded in 2016 with the purpose of developing innovative products of value, especially related to health and wellbeing.
Our MediRead medical bracelets were initially conceived after our founder’s sister, a breast cancer surgeon, commented on how many of her patients arrived for consultations with long and potentially out-dated medication lists hand-written and sometimes folded into lockets or similar. She suggested that, in this day and age, it must surely be possible to utilise devices such as smartphones for the purpose, given their ubiquity.
As the idea took shape, we also considered situations that our own parents, elderly and living independently, face when seeing doctors or simply being out-and-about. Extending this further, we decided to cater for situations where people may be in locations where mobile signals are weak or non-existent, e.g. when travelling or engaging in outdoor pursuits. These, and a desire to eliminate any reliance on third-parties, led us to design the MediRead bracelet and app as we have.
