What is it & How does it work?
ESSENTIAL MEDICAL INFORMATION TO HAND, WHENEVER IT IS NEEDED
In emergencies, easy access to data on your medications, allergies and any serious conditions is potentially life-saving. This essential information can be held on your MediRead bracelet.
The bracelet has an embedded chip to store the information and uses NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology to allow the data to be viewed or updated. All first-responders or medical staff need to do is touch the bracelet with a compatible NFC-enabled smartphone for the wearer’s information to be displayed on screen.

QUICK AND EASY TO ACCESS
Paramedics and doctors need only tap their NFC-enabled Android smartphone on the bracelet and hold for 2-3 seconds for the wearer’s information to be displayed on screen. There is no number to call or website to go onto. They just need the free MediRead app on their phones.
NO NEED FOR INTERNET CONNECTIVITY
MediRead does not require internet connectivity to work as the data is stored directly on the bracelet. There are no service providers to contact and no reliance on third-party data stores. Hence, the information is always accessible, even where mobile signals are poor or non-existent.
DATA IS HELD ON THE BRACELET, NOT ONLINE
As the information is held directly on the wearer’s bracelet and not remotely, there is no reliance on any third parties to maintain and provide access to their data. You (the wearer) maintain the data and have full control over it.
SIMPLE TO ADD AND UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION
Getting the details onto the bracelet is an easy process. Information is entered on a smartphone using the simple and intuitive MediRead app interface and written onto the MediRead bracelet by tapping it with the phone. If the wearer does not carry a smartphone, a family member or friend can download the app and enter the details on their behalf.
NO BATTERY REQUIRED
The MediRead bracelet does not need a battery or any other power source and thus, there is no danger of forgetting to charge it. It uses NFC technology and is activated by the electromagnetic field generated by your smartphone.
A ONE-TIME PURCHASE, NO ONGOING SUBSCRIPTION FEES
It is cost-effective too, as there are no ongoing subscription fees – the bracelet is a one-off purchase. There are no ongoing fees for access or hidden charges for any other service.
WHO IS IT FOR?

- People who travel, especially to remote locations, or go on cruises
- Anyone, including young adults or children, with life-threatening conditions or severe allergies

WHAT INFORMATION CAN BE STORED?
All information that may be essential in emergency situations can easily be stored and displayed. This includes:
- The person’s name, age and blood type
- GP contact details
- Emergency contact number(s)
- A full list of medications, dosage and schedule
- Any allergies and their symptoms
- Additional information that would be useful to medical staff, for instance any non-obvious condition

BOTH EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY USES
EMERGENCIES
In an emergency, rapid access to critical medical information can be life-saving. It could save medical staff valuable time and allow the most appropriate treatment to take place without delay. In some cases, even just the emergency contact numbers can be useful.
The fact that MediRead does not rely on access to data held online or with a third-party can be vital in some situations.
NON-EMERGENCIES
– WHEN TRAVELLING
Ever struggled to provide details of all your medications to a doctor when travelling? The information stored on the MediRead bracelet can be accessed quickly and easily without you having to carry prescriptions or hand-written lists. It could also reduce errors as the dosage could be as important as the fact that a medication is being taken.
– WHEN DOCTORS OR CARERS MAKE HOME VISITS
Providing the correct information can be difficult when a doctor or carer visits and a family member isn’t around to assist. Again, the bracelet and app can help
– WHEN LANGUAGE IS AN ISSUE
Sometimes, medical staff are unable to get accurate information about a patient because language presents a barrier. Having access to the data on the patient’s MediRead bracelet will of great benefit to both the doctors and patient in such situations.
